SHINee and Apink


SHINee is a South Korean contemporary R&B boy group under the management of SM Entertainment. Formed in 2008, the group consists of:

Onew (Leader, Vocalist and Dancer) 
Jonghyun (Vocalist and Dancer)
Key (Vocalist, Rapper and Dancer)
Minho (Rapper, Vocalist and Dancer)
Taemin (Maknae, Vocalist and Dancer)
(* Maknae means it is a minor)
They made their debut on May 25, 2008 on SBS Inkigayo with their single, "Replay".

Why "SHINee"?: "People who receive and emit light" (that glow by themselves) is the word SHINE (Bright) with two "E" at the end to give this meaning of people receiving and emanate light.

Apink is a South Korean girl group under the management of A Cube Entertainment formed in 2011. The group consists of:

Cho-rong (Leader, Vocalist, Rapper and Dancer)
Yoon Bomi (Vocalist and Dancer)
Jung Eun-ji (Vocalist and Dancer)
Son Na-eun (Vocalist and Dancer)
Kim Nam-joo (Vocalist, Rapper, Dancer)
Oh Ha-young (Vocalist, Dancer and Maknae)
Hong Yoo-kyung left the group in April 2013 to focus on her studies. 
They debuted on April 21, 2011, with "I Don't Know" (몰라요; "Mollayo") from their debut EP Seven Springs of Apink on Mnet's M! Countdown.

Why "Apink"?: Because "A" is the name of your agency A Cube Entertainment, while "pink" is the color that represents innocence and is known to be the favorite color of the group.
